Written Exercise is an exercise which
comes in two basic formats. In the longer format, the candidate may
given information about a topic or problem(s) and allowed a block of
time to prepare a written document (usually digitally) which may consist
of proposed solution(s) to an organizational problem, a recommendation
on a program, policy, or operational plan. The candidate may be given
little or no information about the topic(s) and be expected to generate a
written response based on his/her own knowledge. The candidate may be
told to direct the written document to a superior or it may simply be
aimed at the assessor panel. The shorter format is often an email or
memorandum directed to a superior who is requesting a summary of a role
play interaction or perhaps an after-action report on a tactical event
which the candidate may have supervised/commanded. This module includes
two long and twenty-four short practice exercises.
