Detective/Investigator Situational (and Crime Scene) Exercise (Morris & McDaniel) is an exercise in which candidates are provided with hypothetical problem(s)/scenario(s) that are usually judgment and/or investigatory oriented and consist of only a few sentences each. The Morris & McDaniel, Inc. exercise has the candidate appear before video recording devices rather than assessors. There will be no formal/separate preparation period. The candidate will be presented with 3-5 unrelated scenarios and have approximately four minutes to analyze AND respond to each. The candidate’s performance will be video-recorded for later assessment. The problem(s)/scenario(s) are presented in writing and read aloud to the candidate prior to the candidate’s oral response time beginning. There is no role play or human interaction involved once the exercise begins, and there typically are no follow-up questions posed to the candidate. This module includes 14 situational practice scenarios and 6 crime scene practice scenarios.
