I/O SOLUTIONS (IOS) TRAINING MODULES (Police Detective / Investigator)
I/O Solutions (IOS) is one of a very few Test/Assessment Center companies that does not tell candidates in detailed terms what they can expect in the way of the specific types of exercises in which they will participate. Although they will conduct a “live” orientation session or two with candidates and may provide candidates with Power Point slides of perhaps a handful of exercise descriptions, they will typically not narrow down which two or so they will use in the Assessment Center. Normally, we would recommend that you hold off purchasing our training module(s) until you have had the orientation, but that may not be necessary since the scope of duties for being a Detective or Investigator is relatively narrow. Here are exercises that they favor: Structured Oral Interview and Role Play Exercise. There could be a "hybrid" Oral Interview-Based Assessment in which you will prepare for and participate in several “mini-exercises” built within the structured interview format. A handful of these “mini-exercises” may occur in one day or could be spread over a two-day period. In other words, a small role play (e.g., 4-8 minutes) could be placed within this Oral Interview-Based Assessment along with a few more traditional interview type scenarios and/or questions. As to your actual assessment, IOS favors a process in which candidates appear before a panel of assessors, but your process could be guided by a tablet or laptop computer (no assessors or proctor present) and your responses video-recorded for later assessment. If you have a panel of assessors present, you can expect a very brief bit of interaction with the assessors before and/or after your exercise performance. The IOS process is usually rapid-fire and very businesslike.
